Chuck has over thirty years of experience in the Planning, Design, and Project Management of Multifamily, Hospitality, Office, Worship, Education, Government, and Mixed Use developments. The primary focus of his career has been design. He has a great interest in architectural history and has worked in a broad range of design styles, drawing on the lessons of the great architecture of the past to create contextually appropriate contemporary buildings rich in detail and spatial experiences. He believes that every building project should develop from its unique situation, the possibilities inherent in the program, and the goals of the client.

In 1991, Chuck moved to Singapore to found Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates Private Limited which focuses on projects in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, India and China. During his four years there, the firm delivered projects in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar and India. The challenge of working in different cultures has given him an appreciation of the importance of teamwork, and of understanding and adapting to the working methods of his clients and collaborators.

Smallwood worked diligently to develop just the right architectural features that cause our customers to actually take notice of the design features and comment on what a beautiful facility we have.”
