Gil Garrison has served as Principal-in-Charge and/or Design Principal for a wide range of award-winning U.S. and International projects. Gil’s long-standing client relationships include national and international real estate developers and corporations, as well as local, State and Federal institutions for Higher Education, K-12, Military, Government and Performing Arts projects. He has recently directed the successful design transformation of numerous iconic, vintage class "A" commercial office developments into collaborative office environments that appeal to new generations of corporate users.

Gil has developed a particular focus on the design of Urban, Mixed Use projects including several high-rise, vertically stacked developments with various combinations of Retail, Office, HotelMultifamily and Parking components. Many of Gil’s designs have been recognized for sensitively introducing large, complex development into the urban fabric in a way that contributes to a thriving, intimate pedestrian experience.

Gil has been an active leader in the profession through his ongoing involvement with industry and community organizations. Over the last several years, he has participated in the ULI Atlanta District Council mentor program enjoying the opportunity to support and encourage the professional pursuits of young ULI members. He has been a frequent speaker at ULI and NAIOP events and regularly serves on project juries at the Georgia Tech College of Design where he established Smallwood’s Graduate Fellowship and Dean’s Scholarship. The first of its kind, the Dean’s Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student, and the Graduate Fellowship to a student seeking a graduate degree, both in support of the study of architecture at Georgia Tech.

Gil’s team is the very best at integrating excellent design with the practical challenges of production, budget, and schedule -- a truly crucial quality in an architect.”
