Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall Expansion

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A Sunny Disposition

This project expands the existing Sunway Pyramid shopping mall to the west and strengthens the existing retail theme by accentuating the wonders of ancient Egypt through the design’s use of material, color, and thematic detail. This second phase, 20,577 SM redevelopment is located in the Klang Valley west of the city of Kuala Lumpur.

The existing Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall forms a principal part of the 175-acre Sunway Lagoon Resort development. The Sunway Lagoon Resort incorporates the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park (with one of the world’s largest surf pools) Sunway College, Sunway Medical Center and Monash University Sunway Campus Malaysia.

Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall is located in the Klang Valley, west of the city of Kuala Lumpur. The existing 250,000 SM shopping mall has been developed on a prime 62,730 SM site that fronts the new Pantai Highway. To emphasize the retail center's position as a major regional shopping and entertainment hub, the current mall provides users with an intelligent mix of facilities. The existing retail center has over 250 specialty outlets, including 40 food and beverage outlets. In addition to the vast choice of retail outlets, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall accommodates a forty-eight lane bowling alley, a large ice skating rink, a ten screen Cineplex and a state-of-the-art virtual games entertainment center. The exterior and interior of the unique Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall have been creatively themed using Ancient Egypt as their inspiration.
